What is Process Serving?
Process serving is the legal delivery of court documents to notify someone that they are a party to a legal action. California law requires that defendants be properly notified ("served") before a case can proceed.

Types of Service
Personal Service (CCP 415.10)
Direct hand-delivery of documents to the individual named. Required for most summons and complaints.

Service upon a competent adult at residence or workplace after reasonable diligence, followed by mailing.
